Fine Arts Preschool Newsletter – October 2018

 

We hope your child has settled in to his/her class by now, but most importantly enjoying it! Our biggest priority is that your child is finding value and learning in class, but having fun at the same time! Being a part of APA, we want your child to experience MORE than just great arts education. You will see APA giving back  to our community.  This month we preparing Fox 6’s Coats for Kids.   We are also hosting a Trunk or Treat event on October 21st at both our Oak Creek and Franklin locations. Happy October!      

October License Plate Winner: Congrats to license plate ZV4-1519! One of our staff members spotted your APA window sticker while driving! Please contact the front desk so we know who you are and you will receive a $50 tuition credit! To participate next month, grab a FREE window sticker at the desk! 

Preschool Closed: Monday, October 1st – Oak Creek/Franklin School District is closed on this date so we will also follow.  Please click the calendar link below to see other dates APA Preschool will be closed.  Please note, if the preschool is closed that does NOT mean evening dance and music would be closed as well.

Questions for Front Desk:  If you ever have any questions for our front desk staff, Miss Trisha can answer questions on Monday and Tuesday after drop off at 9am and Miss Cara can answer questions on Wednesday and Thursday after drop off at 9am and before pick up at 11:15.   

Swan’s Pumpkin Farm Field Trip: 

When:  Wednesday, October 3rd 

Where: Swan’s Pumpkin Farm in Franksville, please meet right at Swan’s!  5930 Co Hwy H, Franksville, WI 53126 

Time:  9:15-11:15 

Agenda:  We will meet at 9:15 a.m., please make sure you are on time.  Our field trip starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 11:15 a.m. 

Please wait to go into the Pumpkin farm until you see Miss Michelle and Miss Lisa.  You will check in with them and receive your bracelet showing you have pre-paid.  If you did not preregister with APA, you may contact Swan’s Pumpkin Farm and see if you can pay over the phone and add to our group. 

We attend rain, shine, sleet or snow.  The majority of the field trip is outside so please dress appropriately.  Swan’s Pumpkin Farm does not give any refunds.  

Fire Department Field Trip:   On October 16th, the Oak Creek Fire Department will be coming to APA to talk about fire safety.    The program will begin at 9:30am.  Students who do not attend classes on Tuesday are welcome to join us for the presentation with the supervision of their parent/guardian.    *Please note:  If the Fire Department has to answer a call they will not be able to make it to the school*

Trunk or Treat Event: Please join us for our 5th Annual event on Sunday, October 21st at both of our great locations!   NEW this year:  Bounce house, tattoos, pumpkin decorating and more!  Join us for a fun costume contest with great prizes.  Click here for more info!  If you are a business and would like to host a FREE trunk to advertise for yourself, please contact Rachel at [email protected] 

Preschool Fall Festival Costume Event:  Parents are invited to attend our Fall Festival on Tuesday, October 23rd & Wednesday, October 24th at 11am in Studio B2 (next to preschool room). The students will be singing songs for our families. The students should bring costumes to class (please do not wear them to school). Our teachers will help the students put their costumes on. Please do not have your student wear a scary costume. Also, we do not want students bringing any accessories that need to be held in their hands (swords, fairy wands etc.) as they will be using their hands during our songs; or wear any masks. 

APA will hand out a pre-packaged treat for each child to take home.   If you do not want your child to receive a treat, please let us know! 

2018 PHOTO DATE Thursday NOVEMBER 15th @ 9am:  This is the only Preschool picture date scheduled.   Even if you do not attend on Thursdays, please come to school that morning for your photo if you would like to have one taken.  Individual photos will be taken and they also use this photo for a class composite.  If you are not interested in ordering photos, you would still have to get a photo taken to be included in the class group composite.  More information will be handed out closer to the date of the photos.  

Absences:  If your child will be absent, please notify our front desk if you are aware of the date.  If your child is sick and cannot attend school, please call us the morning of so we can notify our teachers.  If a student does not arrive by 9:15a.m., our front desk will call to see if your child is coming that day.  We do not refund you if your child misses a school day.  We allow students to make up any missed days if there is space available on a different day. We are currently full, so this would only happen if a child is scheduled to be absent. There is a maximum of 2 times per semester.   If your child attends all 4 days of our preschool, they are only allowed to make-up by attending another group class that APA offers.  Please remember that make-up classes are optional and The Academy offers this as a courtesy.  We need a one week notice to schedule a make-up. 

Optional Scholastic Book Orders:

We place our orders on the 15th of every month.  Encouraging reading is one of the most important things we can do to help your child succeed. It can be tough finding the right books to keep them interested, which is why we are so excited that our class will be participating in Scholastic Reading Club this school year!  All October orders must be placed online by Monday October 15th . Orders will be processed on the 16th.  

Kringle Fundraiser: Order form is due Tuesday, October 2nd.  . You must pick up from the location you ordered from. Anyone that does not show up between those times will be charged $10 to their account on file. If you do not pick up your food that night, your frozen food will not be good as we do not have a freezer on the premises. Profits from the fundraiser will be in your individual account before October 15th. 

Coats for Kids:  APA is proud to be participating in Fox 6’s Coats For Kids again this year!   Donations will be accepted starting mid October.   Please start checking your closets for coats that can be donated to those in need of these items in the harsh Wisconsin winter weather.   All sizes are needed.   

Referral Program:  Share us with a friend.  When a new family registers and mentions your name, you will EACH receive a $50 tuition credit.  (Credit given after 2 months enrolled and there is no limit to the number of families referred!)   

Logo Wear for Sale:  You can click the link below and place your order online.  Our store will close on the 10th of the month and will not reopen until the 1st.  All orders will take 3-4 weeks after the store closing date and will be shipped for free to APA.  Click here to order!  
 
Field Trips We will update you monthly with our upcoming field trips.  Some field trips take place on site at the preschool, while others are held off site.  Parents are responsible for transportation of their children to offsite field trips.  If you would like your child to participate in a field trip, but do not have transportation available, please see the front desk and we can help arrange carpooling with another parent.  We will notify you of specific times, cost and descriptions of field trips in our Monthly Newsletters. 

Oak Creek Fire Department Visit at Preschool ~  October 16th – They will talk about fire prevention and view fire truck.  Field Trip is in-house at APA. 
Oak Creek Public Library ~ November TBD – meeting w/ Youth Librarian 
Oak Creek Police Department Visit at Preschool ~January TBD 
Dental Health Program at Preschool ~ February TBD – @ APA 
Chasing Tales ~ March TBD 9am-11am  Cost:  approximately $7 per child, parents are free.  Our session will be “Free Play”. 
Falk Park Nature Center ~ April/May TBD 9:30a-10:30a  Cost:  approximately $3 p/p child and adults
