Whether your family has been waiting for snow all year or would rather cozy up by a fire, there are plenty of activities to enjoy all winter long right in our own BACKYARD! 

Here we listed 6 Winter activities for both outdoor lovers, indoor homebodies, and everyone in between! The best part is all activities are located in the Oak Creek & Franklin area. There is nothing better than a weekend filled with family fun and only a short drive away! 

 

Family Tubing at The Rock Snowpark! 

Such a fun way to spend time together outdoors with the whole family! The Rock Snowpark provides everything you need for a day filled with snowy fun! Tubing is great for all ages and they also offer Glow Tubing on the weekends to make for a great night out for older students or parent’s night-out! Check their website for details. 

Oak Creek Library ‘Take Away’ Activities

Since the library is currently not holding any in-person events, they are providing virtual activities and what they call ‘Take Away’ activities. Parents can pick up instructions and materials at the library and head home to create the fun! These activities all have a central theme and provide items to help make everyday weeknights an exciting event! This month’s takeaways are Imagination station- Post Office on January 15th and Family Movie Night on January 22nd. Head over to their website to register for these events! 

 

Oak Creek What to Do in Winter Youth Programs

These events are hosted through the Oak Creek-Franklin School District and are fun Day Camps filled with activities to keep kiddos busy all day! This month they are holding two Events, Magnificent Makers on January 18th  and There’s Snow Place Like Camp on January 25th. Both Events are $40, include 2 snacks & beverages, and are held from 6:45 am – 5:45 pm at Forest Ridge Elementary. Click Here to register. 

 

Local sledding hills for all ages! 

If you’re looking to switch up your sledding hills, don’t want to deal with the crowds at all the main spots, or just exploring new places we have the perfect hills for every age.

  • Riverton Meadows in Oak Creek is perfect for preschool and school-age students. 
  • There is another great sledding hill located between Greendale High and Greendale Village that is perfect for preschoolers and school-agers alike. 
  • Oak Creek Parkway Park is a great hill for middle and high school students, as well as parents! 

 

Hot Cocoa Bar! 

There is nothing better after an afternoon of sledding than a hot cup of cocoa. Make it more fun for everyone by creating your own Hot Cocoa bar! Have different flavors of hot chocolate and a variety of toppings to choose from such as chocolate or toffee chips, peppermint sticks, marshmallows, chocolate caramel drizzle, and sprinkles,  because who doesn’t love sprinkles? 

Date & Skate at Drexel Town Square

A fun way to spend Valentine’s Day with the family or your special someone! Drexel Town Square is hosting a Date & Skate night this Valentine’s Day Sunday, February 14th,  from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m!  Enjoy free ice skating, live music in the Square,  and making memories with your loved ones.
