Happy May everyone! We are getting so close to our end-of-the-year performances. It seems like just yesterday we were sizing for dance shoes and ordering music books. As we come to an end we are already planning for next year. Every year, we send out a survey after all of our performances are over. This is such a great way for you to leave us feedback. We would love to hear everything…. good, bad, etc. It is great to hear things you love, so we know to keep doing them, and it is crucial we hear about things you wish we would change. We personally read every single survey and share them with the staff. It is such a great way to make APA better every year. We appreciate you taking the time to fill this out for us.

New Front Desk Staff: Miss Laura, who worked the front desk in Franklin, received an opportunity to work at her dream job that she could not pass up. We recently hired a new employee Miss Alyssa, who will be taking over for her. This means we currently have 2 Alyssa’s that are working at the front desk. Miss Alyssa Pearson is currently our Team Coordinator/Office Manager and Miss Alyssa Arnold is our new staff member.
Memorial Day Weekend – We will have regular classes through Saturday, May 29th. We WILL be closed Sunday, May 30th, and Monday, May 31st for Memorial Day.
Student Absences – Our Music and Dance recitals are coming up soon! If your student is missing a lot of classes prior to an upcoming performance, please make sure they are practicing at home. If a student does not know their music piece or dance routine, our teachers may ask that those students do not participate in our shows.
Yard Sign Contest – Our yard sign contest is back! Grab a yard sign from the lobby of either location and place it in your yard. If we spot your house you could be our next tuition credit winner! If you’re our lucky winner, you’ll receive a $50 tuition credit. Winners are announced via Facebook. You must comment on the post if it is your house that is the winner.
Automatic Withdrawals – Automatic withdrawals for tuition will stop after May 15th for everyone, unless you sign up for our Fall session.
Music Classes: On May 15th all music students will be charged for 2 June music lessons. Our last music lessons will be on Monday, June 14th. Some students will have makeup lessons scheduled past this date, but please discuss them directly with your teacher.
2021-2022 Competitive Dance Team Auditions: Our auditions will be held on Saturday, May 15th & Sunday, May 16th at our Oak Creek location. Click HERE for details. Questions about Teams or Auditions Next Year? We understand that our Competitive Team information can be overwhelming for 1st-time families. If you have questions, please email Miss Alyssa, our Competitive Team Coordinator, at [email protected]. From there, we can address your questions or set up a phone call. Miss Alyssa can answer questions on the administrative aspect of being on a Team(s) (hours, fees, time, and financial commitments). Questions regarding placement and dancer’s ability would be addressed by their current teachers and/or Miss Sarah, our Dance Director.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT:
Music Students Last Payment: On May 15th all music students will be charged for 2 June music lessons. Our last music lessons will be on Monday, June 14th. Some students will have makeup lessons scheduled past this date, but please discuss them directly with your teacher.
Spring Music Recital – In-Person & Virtual Options: Our performance orders will be emailed out by May 24th.
Our Music Recital is scheduled for Saturday, June 12th (VIRTUAL option), and Sunday, June 13th (IN-PERSON option). We will work on the final details closer to Spring since there are still ongoing changes due to COVID-19. Our in-person recital will have multiple acts beginning at 1:00 p.m. Families will be able to choose what type of recital they want their students to perform based upon their comfort level. APA will always follow COVID-19 guidelines. Our students will begin to pick out their music later on in the semester. Please feel free to talk to your child’s teacher for a brief summary of what they are working on!
DANCE DEPARTMENT:
Dancers VIRTUAL Parent Observation Week: May 3rd-8th
Normally during our Parent Observation Week, we allow parents to sit inside of their students’ dance class to observe what the students have been working on. Because we cannot do that this year, we want to remind everyone that our parents can always tune in to our live-streamed dance classes. We recommend that you tune in May 3rd-8th as our routines will be close to being completed. Zoom links for you to live stream can be found by clicking HERE.
Dance Showcase Information
***For everyone’s safety, we had to divide up our Shows to limit the amount of dancers in each performance. If you have multiple dancers performing, it makes it very difficult to accommodate siblings in the same Show. Due to the current circumstances, it was impossible to try accommodating all of our families like we usually can. Unlike years past, we cannot give credits to siblings if they are in different shows because we are limited at 25% capacity.
Our Shows this year will require additional staffing to help with traffic flow, extra custodians at the PAC, and more total Shows to allow everyone the time to perform on stage. We are so thankful that this is an option for our dancers and staff to put on a safe performance!

Dress Rehearsals/Pictures @ Oak Creek APA Studio: Tuesday, June 15th – Thursday, June 17th
9160 S. Pennsylvania Ave. (in-between Ryan Rd. & Puetz Rd. on Pennsylvania Ave.) Each class will have a set time block to rehearse with their class June 15th-17th. ***This time will be different than your normal scheduled class time. Please see our index below for times.
Spring Dance Showcase @ South Milwaukee PAC: Our Shows are scheduled for Friday, June 18th, and Saturday, June 19th.
For those of you who had their students perform in our Winter Mini Shows, our Spring Shows will have the same flow on how this will work to put on a safe performance for our students and spectators. The only difference will be that our classes will only perform their routine on stage 1 time since we have a lot of combo classes that have more than 1 style to perform. NEW families – please watch our video to see how this day will work. We will follow city guidelines for capacity and masks.

***IF you did not purchase a costume yet and would like to, please see our front desk immediately to purchase so we can check to make sure the costume would be available in time. There is a $10 shipping charge since our group orders have ended.
Volunteers: We are looking for parent volunteers to help us backstage. Unlike years past, you would be a volunteer back-stage and will be assisting ALL classes back there, not just your students’ class. Volunteers do not have to purchase a ticket and can watch your child’s performance from the side stage. Siblings who are not performing are not allowed to be back-stage. Please sign up by clicking HERE. For the safety of our students, anyone backstage will need to check-in as a volunteer and receive one of our volunteer lanyards. Parents are not allowed backstage unless they are approved, volunteers. We will send a volunteer email the week of the Showcase with final instructions. ***We are not asking for volunteers for our Team Showcase.
Tickets for Recreational Dance Classes: Cost is $10 per seat/per show that will be occupied. If a younger child can sit on someone’s lap, they would not need a ticket but CANNOT occupy a seat. Because we have to limit the number of seats per student, all tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE, with no exceptions. In order for us to put on these shows, we need to make sure we can cover all of our rental costs. IF you want paper tickets mailed to your house there is a $1 mailing fee per order or you can print electronic tickets at home with no charge.
Seating: All seating will be General Admission. For social distancing and spacing accommodations, general seating is our best option.
Ticket Sale Dates (up to 4 tickets per student – if capacity increases we will inform you): We split our sale dates into 2 dates listed below. Tickets will be available for purchase until Monday, May 31st. Because this is general seating, even if you purchased 4 tickets the first round, your family will still be able to sit together if you purchase additional tickets starting June 1st when we open up the remaining seats. ***We will NOT be live streaming this event since we give everyone digital copies of all the recreational performances.
