Staying indoors due to cold weather and at times freezing temperatures can be challenging for little ones to keep occupied, entertained, and above all BUSY!

Inventing new and above all FUN ways to spend quality time with the family can be a challenge, but no fear because we’ve got you covered with these 5 Creative and Cozy Indoor Family Activities!

We have selected a variety that will suit every family and for all ages! The next time your little ones are begging for something to do or complaining of boredom, pull out these activities and watch the hours fly by.

Indoor scavenger hunt  (Free printable)

This activity provides hours of entertainment and is created from simple items we all have around the house. We have created a FREE printable to make this game even easier! Gather items on the scavenger hunt and hide them around the house in places that can be simple for young children or more difficult for the older ones. Then the fun part! Set a timer and see how many items can be found before the clock runs out.

Pin the Carrot on the Snowman

Not just a fun game to play with the family, but also a great craft project for the kids. All you need is a white poster board, washable markers, construction paper, and velcro strips or Scotch tape. Draw the three different sized circles to create the snowman, then let the kiddos decorate him with the traditional items or something out of the box! Cut the construction paper into carrot-shaped noses and attach one side of the velcro to the nose and one to the snowman. Now time to play! Find a blindfold and take turns pinning the Carrot on the Snowman!

Indoor Camp Out!

Who doesn’t love a good campout! When the winter months have become too much to bear, create a slice of summer indoors! Pitch the tent in the living room, make Smores (over the fire or the stovetop!), and spend time together as a family! Watching a movie (because you’re still indoors!) play a classic card game or tell spooky stories in the tent with the lights out and flashlights on! One of the best ways to make staying indoors exciting and gets everyone pumped for the summer to come!

Homemade Playdough!

Another great way to spend time at home is in the kitchen! Kids love to be creative with their hands and it’s a great way to encourage their help with cooking projects! This recipe is simple to make and fun while making and even more so when complete. All you need is 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, 4 tsp. of Cream of Tartar, 2 cups of water, and 2 tbsp. Vegetable oil. Measure and mix all the ingredients together in a large pan until all the clumps are gone. Place over medium heat, once the dough pulls away from the side of the pan and forms a ball it’s finished! Let cool, knead the dough and HAVE FUN!

Family Game Night

A tried and true classic for spending time together making family memories. Select your kiddos AND your favorite board games, an array of tasty treats, and a notebook to tally those scores! Remember there are many ways to play! Divide into teams (parents vs. kids or boys vs. girls) or play individually to change it up! There’s always the option to create your OWN game too! A creative way to level up a family night staple.

We hope these activities create new memories for your family and great ways to pass the time indoors until Spring arrives. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
