Fine Arts Preschool Newsletter – September 2018

Dear Parents & Students,

Welcome and thank you for registering your child in our preschool program for the 2018-2019 school year.

We are so excited you have chosen us to be your child’s preschool.  Miss Michelle and Miss Lisa are so amazing with our students and you will quickly see why our program grows more and more each year.  If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask!  Don’t forget if you add on any group dance classes, you will receive 20% off your dance class.  We also have a nice referral program if you share us with a brand new friend to APA, you both receive a $50 tuition credit at APA after 2 months of paid enrollment!  There is no limit to referrals and we have flyers on our front desk if you know someone that may be interested!  Listed below are some other important things you should know!

Welcome to APA!

Monthly Newsletters & Preschool Facebook Page: On the first of every month, we will e-mail out our monthly E-news.  It will also be posted on our homepage of our website at www.academywi.com.  We will also post a paper copy and display on our bulletin board outside of the preschool.  When you see “click here” on the paper copies please refer to your electronic version for links.  September is the only month that we provide everyone with a paper copy.

We’ve also added a preschool facebook page.  This will list reminders about upcoming events and share photos.  We have sent out invites because this is a private page, to everyone using your email address we have on file.  If this is not the email that is linked to your Facebook account or if you did not receive an invite, please email us with your email address that is linked to your Facebook page.  [email protected]

Academy Calendar: We will hand out our preschool calendar in September.  Please note this calendar is different than our APA calendar for dance and music classes.  This will include days that our preschools are closed including winter break, spring break and some school district closing days.

Field Trips:  We will update you monthly with our upcoming field trips.  Some field trips take place on site at the preschool, while others are held off site.  Parents are responsible for transportation of their children to offsite field trips.  If you would like your child to participate in a field trip, but do not have transportation available, please see the front desk and we can help arrange carpooling with another parent.  We will notify you of specific times, cost and descriptions of field trips in our Monthly Newsletters.

2018 Photo Thursday, November 15th  9am:  This is the only preschool picture date scheduled.   Even if you do not attend on Thursdays, please come to school that morning for your photo if you would like to have one taken.  The photographers also create a composite class picture so even if parents do not plan on ordering photos, they may still want their children photographed so they are included in the class picture.  More information will be handed out closer to the date of the photos.

Monthly Tuition & Schedule of Payments:  Our preschool tuition is a yearly tuition.  We do not pro-rate tuition for months with fewer classes. Tuition is charged to your account on file on the 15th of every month starting with September 15th with your last payment being charged on April 15th since you pre-pay for a month in advance.  If you need to withdraw from our preschool program during the school year, please provide a 30 day written notice, per the Parent Handbook.

Absences:  If your child will be absent, please notify our front desk if you are aware of the date.  If your child is sick and cannot attend school, please call us the morning of so we can notify our teachers.  If a student does not arrive by 9:30a.m., our front desk will call to see if your child is coming that day.  We do not refund you if your child misses a school day.  We allow students to make up any missed days if there is space available on a different day.  There is a maximum of 2 times per semester.   If your child attends all 4 days of our preschool, they are only allowed to make-up by attending any group dance classes that APA offers.  Please remember that make-up classes are optional and The Academy offers this as a courtesy.  We need a one week notice to schedule a make-up. Currently our Tuesday and Thursdays are full, so there are only opportunities on a Monday or Wednesday to do a makeup.  Again, your child can always choose to do a makeup in a 3-4 year old group dance class as well.

September Preschool  Reminders Please have your student use the bathroom before class begins each day.  This helps our students get familiar with where the bathrooms are and gets them into the habit of at least trying to use the bathroom before class.  Also – please remind your student to tell a teacher if they ever need to use the bathroom at any point during the school day.

If a parent has a concern about a preschool student (crying or adjusting during the first few days), they can ask a front desk staff member to peek into the classroom or they can call the studio to check in.

Preschool Forms & Immunization Forms:  Please make sure to turn this into our front desk on your  first day.  If forms are not completed, students are unable to attend class.

Member Accounts:  On our website there is a member log-in area.  Every family has their own account.  You can see what your account has been charged, enroll in classes, etc… Your user name is the email address you gave us.  If you need to update your email address, please contact us.

OPTIONAL Kringle Fundraiser:  Earn money off tuition!  Earn money for your individual studio account to be put towards tuition, apparel, costumes and more!  The fundraiser will end on Tuesday, October 2nd.  Forms will be handed on during the first week of class and extra copies will be available at our front desk.
