Team Newsletter – March 2020

ALL of our students will receive a FREE t-shirt in June! We will send out an email in mid-March asking you to proof your students name since they will all be listed on the back of the shirt.  Also, this email will provide parents a link to order and pay for a t-shirt if you would like one.  They are $20 plus tax, add $2 for 2XL or 3XL. T-shirts are unisex so they run bigger.

A NEW OPTION FOR 2020 – Parents can purchase this as a “Fan of T-shirt”. Since this shirt will be personalized on the back side the cost is $30.  It would NOT list the students’ names on the back but would say “Fan of (your student’s name). Parent t-shirts will be available for pick up the last week of dance classes in June at your location.  Please watch your emails for this!

Spring Break for BOTH Locations:  Monday, March 23rd – Sunday, March 29th
Classes will resume on Monday, March 30th!

Students of the Month:

Congratulations to Paige Thibodeau, our Petite Dancer of the month. Paige is in 4th grade at Edgewood Elementary School in Oak Creek where her favorite subject is Math. Someday Paige hopes to become a dance teacher. Her favorite food is shrimp and her favorite dessert is cheesecake! Paige’s favorite color is purple, her favorite movie is Tangled and her favorite holiday is Christmas. Her hero is her mom because “she does a lot of things for me and supports me at dance and watches all of my competitions.” Paige has been dancing for 7 years and this is her 4th year on APA Competitive Teams. She is on Petite Blue Jazz, Petite Lyrical, Petite/Junior Hip Hop, Junior Tap and the Production Team. Her favorite style of dance is Lyrical. If she could master one dance move it would be an aerial. She is most looking forward to accomplishing new flexibility skills this year. Miss Alyse nominated Paige because from the moment Paige walks into the studio you know she means business. “She is very attentive to details and corrections that are made in class each week. Whether you are dancing beside Paige or watching her in the audience you will always see the love she has for dance with her high energy performances. Paige has stepped up to the plate for our Legacy competition by helping fill in for another dancer. Her hard work, spirit, and love for dance is something we all admire. Paige, keep up the amazing work. We look forward to watching you dance your heart out!” Congratulations Paige!

Congratulations to Taylor Swenson, our Teen Dancer of the Month. Taylor is in 7th grade at Oak Creek East Middle School where her favorite subject is Language Arts. When Taylor grows up, she wants to be a neurosurgeon! Taylor loves salads and ice cream! Her favorite holiday Christmas, her favorite book is Scythe Series and her favorite movie is A Dog’s Purpose. Taylor has been dancing for 8 years and this is her 4th year on APA Competitive Teams. This year she is on Teen Jazz and Teen Hip Hop but her favorite style is Jazz. Taylor is looking forward to getting closer to her teammates and dancing this season! Miss Alyse nominated Taylor because when class begins you can always catch Taylor ready to go and ready to learn. “She is well-loved by all her classmates and teachers.  Taylor puts her best foot forward each week and continues to apply corrections that are given to her and her class. You can always catch Taylor on stage with her fun-loving energy, and the power she puts behind her dances. Taylor, we can’t help but smile when watching you dance, and are proud of all the work you put forth in your classes. Keep doing what you love!” Congratulations Taylor!

Details from Parent Meeting:  If you were unable to join us for the parent meeting last month please go to our Team Facebook page to view it. All families are responsible for getting the information from the meeting.

Dance PODs:  At our pot luck in August we put the dancers into groups called PODs (Partners On Dance). The PODs give kids the opportunity to form relationships with dancers on other Teams and in other age groups. They’ll have the chance to get guidance from students with more competitive experience and also to learn to be good leaders and helpers with each other.

REMINDERCALL TIME is when your dancer needs to arrive, in FULL Hair, makeup, costume, tights, shoes, as if they were about to walk on to stage.

Communication: As Miss Sarah mentioned at the parent meeting please email Miss Trisha at the Team email account ([email protected]) with any questions. If she does not know the answer she will get answers or forward the email to the appropriate management Team member. If you do not receive a response within 48 hours (weekends excluded), call the front desk or email Miss Sarah. The desk will be able to help you with things like billing, schedules, absence/illness, and other administrative-type questions.
