March Team Newsletter 2021
Everyone did an amazing job at Legacy! We cannot wait to attend more competitions and watch our students improve throughout the season. A huge thank you to our coaches for getting our students ready to compete again.
February was a month full of snow and cold temperatures! We are hoping March will bring some warmer weather and our students can enjoy our upcoming Spring Break.
Spring Break for BOTH Locations: APA will be closed Monday, March 29th – Sunday, April 4th. Classes will resume on Monday, April 5th!

Absence Form – This will be checked every Monday. If the absence is not entered by Monday morning please still complete the form, but call as well so we can notify the teacher. To be considered for an excused absence please make sure to complete the form no later than 30 days prior to the absence.
All Events on the Event Calendar are required unless otherwise stated. If you are unable to attend an event you will need to complete the Team Absence Form located on the Team website. Miss Alyssa will communicate with Miss Sarah M. to see if it could be excused. Each will be considered on an individual basis.

REMINDER: CALL TIME is when your dancer needs to arrive, in FULL Hair, makeup, costume, tights, shoes, as if they were about to walk on to stage.
EXTENDED Production Practice: Saturday, March 13th, 8 am-11 am
*Reminder that our Saturday extra practices for Teams have ended since we are entering competition season.
SAVE THE DATE – Competitive Team Auditions for 2021-2022 Teams: Auditions will be held the weekend of May 15th-16th. More details will be available on April 1st.
Pom/Dance Audition Prep Classes: Is your dancer looking to prepare for middle/high school Pom tryouts or be a part of APA Competitive Teams? Register for one or both of our workshops below. Dancers will be working on jumps/turns, choreography combos, and technique. Dance Teams perform multiple styles of dance so both of these workshops can benefit your dancer.
Poms/Jazz Workshop w/ Miss Haley for Grades 5th-9th
Saturday, March 20th @ Oak Creek – APA
Cost: $30 for 1 workshop or $50 total if you want to attend both workshops
Dance Workshop w/ Miss Sarah McClure for Grades 2nd-Up (2 different age groups below)
Sunday, April 25th @ Oak Creek – APA
***Current Team Students: please register based upon what current teams you are on. If you are on both Petite and Junior teams, register with the Junior group.
Nationals Update: Thank you to everyone for completing our survey. We only have a few families that are unable to join us or will decide closer to the competition so we will be moving forward with Nationals in Pigeon Forge, TN. We have enough interest for ALL Teams to compete. All previous documents can be found by clicking HERE. Once Rainbow provides us with more details we will notify you. Feel free to start planning your lodging/transportation for your family. Our National documents will always be available on our Team website and Team App.
Thank you to the 3 families who said they are willing to “adopt” another dancer if their family is not able to attend. If anyone is interested in sending their dancer with another family, please email us and we can provide you with more details.
Team Instagram: Reminder! The Team Instagram, @apateams, will be activated at the start of our competitive season, beginning with Legacy Dance Championship. Here you will find photos of the dancers, competition results, and behind-the-scenes clips!
Kringle Fundraiser – EARN MONEY FOR NATIONALS: We will be offering an optional Kringle Fundraiser in March. Money earned will go directly into your APA account! Students will receive an order form in class or see our front desk. If you prefer for us to email you the form to share with family and friends, please email us at [email protected]. All orders are due by March 22nd for pick-up in mid-April.
New Front Desk Employee/Office Manager: Miss Amanda is our newest APA front desk employee and has already started training at our Oak Creek location. We are so excited to have her join us. Welcome to our APA Staff!!!
Miss Jenni, our Office Manager who has been with us for over 8 years, will be retiring on March 1st. We are so thankful to have had Miss Jenni for such a long time and wish her the best in her retirement. Miss Alyssa, who has been with us for the past 3 years, will transition to be our new Office Manager and will be increasing her hours for her shared roles of Office Manager and Team Coordinator.
Communication: As Miss Sarah mentioned at the Parent Meeting, please email Miss Alyssa at the Team email account ([email protected]) with any questions. If she does not know the answer she will get answers or forward the email to the appropriate management Team member. If you do not receive a response within 48 hours (weekends excluded), call the front desk or email Miss Sarah. The desk will be able to help you with things like billing, schedules, absence/illness, and other administrative-type questions.
Dance PODs – We’ve put our Team dancers into groups called PODs (Partners On Dance). The PODs give kids the opportunity to form relationships with dancers on other Teams and in other age groups. They’ll have the chance to get guidance from students with more competitive experience and also to learn to be good leaders and helpers with each other.

APA Team Dancer of the Month: Congratulations goes to Angel Serocki, our March Student of the Month!
Angel is 14 years old and attends Oak Creek High School. Her favorite subject in school is Food and Nutrition and her favorite style of dance is Poms. This season in her dance lessons, Angel hopes to accomplish increasing her flexibility and strength training for increasing jump height. She loves pop music and in her free time, she likes to choreograph dances, watch movies, craft, and indulge in delicious food! Mashed potatoes and Homemade Rice Crispy Treats are her favorites! Angel likes to travel and her favorite place to visit is Cabo St. Lucas! Angel is most grateful for her family and food.
Miss Heather selected Angel for these reasons…
“Angel is a dedicated dancer, team player, and great addition to our Competitive Teams. Each week she comes prepared for class, eager to work, and excited to learn and grow as a dancer. Angel is helpful when it comes to choreography retention, practicing new skill sets, and helping those around her. I’m happy to have the opportunity to teach Angel this season in Poms and am excited to see her continue to better her skills each season!”

License Plate Winner: Congrats to license plate 484-DRK. One of our staff members spotted your APA window sticker while driving! Please contact the front desk so we know who you are and you will receive a $50 tuition credit. To participate, grab a FREE APA window sticker at the desk!
Referral Program: Share us with a friend! When a new family registers and mentions your name, you EACH will receive a $50 tuition voucher. The voucher will be mailed out after 2 months of paid enrollment and there is no limit to the number of families you can refer!

Member Accounts: There is a Member Log-in area on our website www.academywi.com where you can see what your account has been charged, enroll in classes, etc. Every family has its own account. Your username is the email address you gave us. If you need to update your email address, please contact us.
Spring Dance Showcase & Rehearsal Times – will be available in April due to the ongoing changes of COVID-19. Rehearsals are tentatively set for Tuesday, June 15th – Thursday, June 17th at the South Milwaukee PAC. Our Shows are scheduled for Friday, June 18th, and Saturday, June 19th.
Team Music: available on our Team App! You can download it right from there, or request to have music emailed so they can practice at home. Please email us at [email protected] and we will send you a link to a digital file if you need it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
