Welcome to our 2020-2021 Competitive Team Season! We are so excited to have you joining us for another year. I know that this will be another successful Competitive year! Please read below for information on how to stay in contact with us throughout the year. We are looking forward to seeing all the fantastic routines this year!

Coaches and Team Staff

Dance Director:  Miss Lesa
Team Teachers:  Mr. Garrett, Miss Heather, Miss Danielle & Miss Sarah

Team Coordinator:  Miss Alyssa: “Go To” staff member for any questions you have. Her email is [email protected].

How To Connect With Team Updates

We primarily communicate through our monthly Newsletters. Here are other ways to get updates:

Team Website: www.academywi.com/team    The password is 2021team

Team Facebook: If you are not a member, please email Miss Alyssa with your email that is connected to your Facebook account so she can invite you to this private page.

Team App: For all smartphones:

Download the Team App from the Apple App Store or Google Play.  Register with your email and information. Then search for APA Dance Team by pressing the ‘+’  in the top right of the app and join.

Absences: As we continue to grow and evolve, so do our policies. All parents and dancers have signed our Team Commitment Agreement and should be aware of these policies. For details on our attendance policy, please view the Team Commitment Contract. To benefit each Team with extra cleaning before the competition season begins, we have added one 30-minute extra rehearsal on one Saturday of the month in September, November, December, January, and February at no additional cost to you. If your dancer has to miss one of these extra rehearsals, this will count as an absence.

Absence Form: If your dancer needs to miss any classes for any reason, please go to the Team website Absence Form. This will be checked every Monday morning.  If the absence is not entered by Monday morning please still complete the form, but call as well so we can notify the teacher. To be considered for an excused absence please make sure to complete the form no later than 30 days prior to the absence.  Click HERE for the form.

2020-2021 APA Team Calendar (this is a live document and is updated often)

Please make sure to mark your calendar for the extra Saturday practices and October Choreography Camps.  Please note all camps are at the Oak Creek location.

Hair and Makeup: Team students are required to wear their hair and make-up a certain way for most Events. On our Team website, we will have instructional videos for how to do performance hair and make-up by December. Our teachers will check everyone’s hair and makeup at the Winter Showcase.  We will inform you how each Team should wear their hair.

Rehearsal, Technique & Leveled Ballet Dress Code

Ballet: Solid black leo, pink tights, hip alignment belt, ballet shoes, and hair pulled back in a clean, secure bun. Ballet dress code will always supersede all other dress codes.

Rehearsals: Solid black leo, appropriate tights and shoes, hair pulled back in a clean, secure bun. Dancers should not be fixing their hair during class.

Tap classes (tech and rehearsals): dancers may wear their hair in a ponytail instead of a bun.

Poms, Tap and Hip Hop may wear spandex/form fitting solid black shorts or leggings to rehearsals and tech classes. If you have Ballet and a Rehearsal on the same evening, you must be in Ballet dress code for that class regardless.

Each coach may enforce what they feel is appropriate for their classes and dances.

Tuition Automatic Payments: Payments will occur on the 15th of every month starting with September 15th and your last payment will be on May 15th. Please remember we do not prorate tuition for months with fewer classes. This is a 10-month program that we divide into 10 equal payments no matter how many classes there are in a month. Please remember that if your student does not continue with a Team for all 10 months, we charge a $250 re-blocking fee per dance.

Additional Automatic Payments

September 25th: Costumes are charged

*In addition to being charged for your Team costumes, you would be charged for any recreational or Tech Ballet class costumes your student is enrolled in UNLESS you told us no during Team registration. Only Tech Ballet classes have costumes.

January 4th: Team Competition fees.

Please plan ahead- you can pre-pay amounts at any time to Miss Alyssa! The exact amount for Competition fees will not be determined until November when the Competition prices are finalized by each individual company. However, it will be approximately $405 for the 1st Team routine and $255 for each additional Team Routine.

Solos/Duets/Trios/Small Groups: If you are interested in competing with a solo, duet, trio or small group routine in addition to your team classes, please email Miss Alyssa at [email protected] by September 15th, if you have not done so already. Dance Recital Updates

We’ve recently talked with the South Milwaukee PAC, where our recitals are normally held, and they are currently open with limited capacity in their auditorium.  They are working closely with their health department to provide a safe environment for all events.  With that said, APA will keep monitoring our recital options in the next few months.  Regardless, we will offer some sort of performance option in the Winter if we can comply with the state guidelines.  This might not be an hour-long show with 800 seats sold, but we will still make this a special experience for your child.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_single_image image=”12730″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
