Spring Showcase is just around the corner and we are so EXCITED to celebrate another season with our APA FAMILIES!
Showcase day is always a whirlwind of primping, pictures, and performing, which can seem overwhelming for even the most seasoned of dance families. We want to make sure you are as prepared as possible!
Taking time early to prepare for the day will make the difference!
We’ve created our Top 5 Ways to Prepare for the Winter Showcase to make certain that your dancer’s day is magical and yours is effortless.

Review our Spring Dance Performance Information
This can be found on our website in our Members Area or in our June Newsletter and has ALL the details you’ll need for Showcase day including information on our safety guidelines, performance days/times, purchasing tickets and costume requirements. Arrival times and directions for dancer drop-off are also listed here to help families feel prepared and safe at all of our Showcases.
Prepare the Night Before
There are a lot of items that need to be packed for a full day of showcase performances! To be sure that nothing is left behind, we advise packing the night before. Double-check that you have all costume pieces, dance shoes, hair supplies, and touch-up make-up. It’s also best to have an extra pair of tights in case of a snag. For those dancers that will be performing in multiple shows, it’s important to pack healthy snacks and water to stay fueled and hydrated. We want our students to have the BEST showcase experience and being prepared will help make that happen.

Make a Checklist
There are so many things to remember to pack for Showcase day. Costume, hairpiece, tights, shoes, and not to mention the things needed for before and after the show – camera, flowers, TICKETS! The best thing we suggest is to make a checklist ahead of time. Prep all dance items needed for the Show the night before, so getting dressed and ready the day of the Show is effortless. Be sure to double-check your list before heading to the Show!
Double Check Performance Times
Always double check your performance times, especially if you have multiple dancers in separate Shows or your child performs in several Shows. Competitive students also need to be aware of their Showcase lineup. Dancers performing in multiple numbers should have their costumes laid out in order to help kiddos stay organized backstage. We all know how fast those quick changes are and being prepared will make for a smooth transition!
Label EVERYTHING!
As we get closer to the big day, we wanted to remind you to label everything your child will be bringing with them. This includes their dance costume, dance shoes, tights, costume accessories, dance bag, lunch box, and garment bag. This is especially important for students who have multiple dances in one showcase. Our backstage parent volunteers will be doing their best to make sure everyone goes home with everything they came with, but labeling everything will help to make the process run smoother. Thanks in advance for your help and we can’t wait to see you at the Spring Showcase!
