How is it March already? We are hoping March will bring some warmer weather and our students can enjoy our upcoming Spring Break.  We hope everyone enjoyed our Appreciation Month!

APA’s Spirit Week - GLOW Theme!

Monday, March 4th-Saturday, March 9th:
Have your student join in the fun for our Get your Glow On Spirit Week! Students can dress up in glow/neon colors this whole week.  Please make sure dancers still wear attire that they can easily move around in.

PopCorn Fundraiser for tution!

Looking to earn funds for your APA tuition? We are having an optional ONLINE fundraising event for students to sell Popcorn March 4th-11th.  You will make 50% profit on all items sold and 80% of any donations you receive online.  The amount goes directly into your individual APA account to use towards future tuition, merchandise etc.

Encanto Dance Party - One Day Camp @ Next Step Dance Studio:

Be sure to visit our sister studio!
Saturday, March 9th, 12:30-1:30 pm
Cost: $25.
Encanto Dance Party will be filled with an intro to dance, crafts, themed props, games, and an Encanto dance.  Come dressed in your favorite Encanto costume or wear comfortable clothes that you can move in with socks or ballet shoes. Dancers will star in an end-of-the-camp performance that the parents can watch. Parents come into class for the last 5 minutes of class for performance.

Golden Ticket Contest Returns!

Save the Date: March 11th-16th
Let’s have some fun this St. Patrick’s Day! Both locations will have chocolate candy bars for sale for $2 each. 6 random, lucky winners at each location will find a golden ticket included in their candy bar and receive 2 free recital/performance tickets (dance, music, or theatre) and be featured in our upcoming *APA photo shoot! A limited quantity of candy bars at each location will be available.

*Winners receive the opportunity to pose for a professional picture in your chosen APA art form and be featured in upcoming APA marketing campaigns. The photoshoot will be Saturday, April 13th at 11:30 am at our Franklin studio. Photos will be digital. Winners who cannot attend the photo shoot date will still receive their free performance tickets.

APA Dance Parent Association Eat Out Night:

On Wednesday, March 13th the delicious and generous Qdoba Restaurant (8750 S Howell Ave) is donating back 25% of Dine In, Take out, and Online Sales orders to support a great cause – APA Dance Parent Association for our Competitive Team dancers! 

On behalf of the APA Dance Parent Association, you’re invited to join us and eat out, not only in support of the organization but to show one of your Oak Creek restaurants some love too! Spring Break for BOTH Locations:

 APA will be closed Monday, March 25th – Sunday, March 31st. 

Classes will resume on Monday, April 1st!

Summer REGISTRATION OPENS APRIL 1st:

NEW this summer! We are offering (2) 4-week long mini GROUP class sessions.  Students will be able to pick between Session I and Session II dates or register for both to keep your students moving all summer long.

Session I will be June 17th-July 20th
(w/ week of 4th of July off)
&/or Session II July 22th-August 17th.
 

Register early as our summer classes have limited offerings compared to our school year session!  There’s less chance of your class being full, or canceled due to low enrollment.  We need at least 5 students enrolled in each class.

*Current MUSIC students enrolled in private lessons please read the details in the music department section.  Private MUSIC lessons will be 8-weeks long to keep a consistent schedule for teachers throughout summer.

Competitive Team Auditions:

Competitive Pom Team Auditions for 2024-2025:  Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 27th. More details will be available April 1st.

Official 2024 Summer Musical!

June 17th-August 10th!
Calling all performers and theater enthusiasts! Join us for auditions for “Annie Jr.,” a heartwarming musical extravaganza! We are seeking talented performers ages 6-18 to bring this beloved story to life. Come showcase your talent and be part of an unforgettable production filled with joy, hope, and timeless music. While all who enroll are guaranteed a spot in our production, we will be holding auditions before the first rehearsals to cast all roles. 

Auditions will be on Tuesday, June 11th with call-backs on Wednesday, June 12th. More details to come.  Don’t miss this opportunity to shine on stage in “Annie Jr.” – an adventure that promises to captivate hearts and leave audiences spellbound!

Class/ Rehearsal Dates:
Tuesday, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 12:00-3:00 pm starting Tuesday, June 18th – Tuesday, August 6th @ APA Oak Creek location *no class on Thursday, July 4th

Dance Classes - Make-Up Class Cut-Off Date:

March 15th, unless there is a class available that is taught by your same teacher with the same Showcase dance. It can be difficult for students to attend a class after this date because students have already started learning Showcase dances.

Spring Dance Showcase & Rehearsal/Picture Times:

Rehearsals & pictures are set for Tuesday, June 11th through Thursday, June 13th @ APA’s Oak Creek location. Our Competitive Team Showcase (only competitive dancers) are scheduled for Friday, June 14th.  Our recreational classes will perform on Saturday, June 15th. Our performances will be held at Oak Creek Performing Arts Center.

Showcase Costumes:

We use the same costumes from our Winter Show for our Spring Show. We use the same costumes from our Winter Show for our Spring Show. If you are transferring classes and the new class does not use the same costume, you will need to purchase a costume for the new class.

Showcase Routines:

Each class will continue to work on their new dances for our spring show. They will still be working on technique, across-the-floor combinations, jumps and turns. If your child is not participating in our Spring Show, they will still learn the dance, and will be strategically placed in formations so we do not have any gaps during the performance.

Private Music Lesson Registration:

For Summer 2024 & 2024-2025 School Year Session:

In order to make the process easier for all, students are required to opt out if they are NOT interested in their current private lesson day/time for our upcoming sessions.  If you do not discontinue lessons, you will continue in your same lesson time slot for summer and/or fall. 

You will receive a separate email by March 4th with how to discontinue lessons for either summer and/or fall.  Our 8-week summer session starts the week of June 17th and our school year session starts the week of September 3rd, 2024.

APA All-Stars Music Performances @ Milwaukee Admirals & Bucks Games:  

Our All-Star students have an amazing performance ready for you at both the Milwaukee Admirals hockey game on March 30th @ 6pm, AND the Milwaukee BUCKS Game on April 10th at 7pm!!!

Spring Music Recital - SAVE THE DATES!

Please mark your calendars for our first-ever, 2-day Spring Music Recital on Saturday, June 1st AND Sunday, June 2nd at the Saber Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin High School.  Exact performance times will be decided closer to the recital date. Please note, if families have siblings in different recital acts, APA will offer 4 free tickets to your second show time

**Recital and other important APA dates, including when we are closed for holidays, can all be found on the APA calendar.

Drama and Musical Theatre Classes:

Saturday, June 8th Performance: Our theatre department is proud to announce our spring project: MTI’s Broadway Jr. Revue- Pure Imagination. This season, students will learn interesting facts about the shows in the revue, and the roles used to create a successful show. Each Musical Theatre class will prepare and perform musical numbers that include choreography, solo work, and dialogue, while the Drama Club classes will prepare short skits or short introductions/monologues to perform in between. All students who are enrolled will be featured.

The performance and dress rehearsal will be on Saturday, June 8th and will take place at the Saber Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin High School.   Students will have a dress rehearsal prior to the show at 3pm and our show will start at 6pm. *Students will be allowed time to bring a bagged lunch/snack to eat before the performance.  We hope you join us to create this exciting show!  Tickets will go on sale in May.

www.academywi.com where you can see what your account has been charged, enroll in classes, etc. Every family has their own account.  Your username is the email address you gave us. If you need to update your email address, please contact us.

Snow / Cold Weather Days:  
APA will decide if we will remain open during a snow/ice storm. An email will be sent to all families by 3pm if we decide to close Monday-Friday or by 8am on Saturdays. PRIVATE MUSIC LESSON STUDENTS: please click HERE to view our makeup policy to see which music teachers will offer virtual lessons on snow days. To receive updates, weather closures, and delays, please opt in by texting APA to (414) 240-8458. Even if you agreed to texts at registration, you still need to opt in using the instructions above.

Referral Program:  
Share us with a friend! When a new family registers and mentions your name, you will EACH receive a $50 tuition credit. The credit will be automatically put into your APA account after the new family has paid for 2 months of enrollment. There is no limit to the number of families you can refer to APA!
