[vc_row enable_arrows_animation=”no”][vc_column][vc_column_text]What a year!! Thank you to all of our Competitive Team members for their dedication. We are really excited to see you dance at the Competitive Team Showcase as well as the APA Spring Showcases! All of our dancers should be incredibly proud of themselves. Good luck all of our Teams and dancers headed to Nationals later this month!
If you have any questions regarding the Competitive or general Showcases, please let us know. Our staff is here to assist you! Summer Intensive dates are already available and Choreography Camp dates will be out shortly after our 2019/2020 Teams are announced. Thanks for being a part of APA this past season. The studio will have limited office hours during the Summer. Please call us at (414) 768-0101, if you have any questions. We will be checking our voicemail even if we do not have specific office hours that day!
APA Student of the Month: Congrats to Natalie Lobdell, our June winner! Check on social media later this month for more information!
5 & 10 Year Awards: All students who have taken classes at APA for 5 and 10 complete years are eligible to receive a trophy! If your child has been with us that long, please email [email protected] before June 5th so that your child will receive their trophy at dance rehearsals!
1st Team Bonding for the 2019-2020 Season AND Student Appreciation Night: Our Team Picnic is for all dancers and their families. It will take place right before our FREE Student Appreciation Night Pool Party at Cool Waters from 7pm-9pm on Friday, August 16th.
Reminders for Competitive Team Showcase: Tuesday, June 11th @ SMPAC – doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7pm. Our Competitive dancers will not rehearse their Team numbers during the week (they do still have scheduled rehearsals on stage for their Ballet and other recreational routines, as well as some specific Team dances such as Blue Team, Production, etc. so check the full schedule carefully). Instead of rehearsing most of these Team dances, they’ll perform on stage Tuesday night to try another approach to the annual Competitive Team Showcase. REMEMBER, they will dance these competitive routines in the various weekend Showcases as well. Tickets went on sale through the SMPAC in May along with our other Showcase tickets (ticket sale details for APA’s yearly Showcases are at the bottom of the Newsletter).
Team Picture Details: Like last year, we are doing Team photos during the afternoon on Tuesday, June 11th. This is also the day most of the Teams will have their dress rehearsal time at the SMPAC for Blue, Ballet, etc. This works out great because it allows dancers more time to be recharged and ready for their next dance during rehearsal blocks, and also ensures their individual and group photos feature their happy faces instead of flushed faces with fading hair and makeup as the night goes on. The time table is linked HERE and is approximate. These will be the official Team photos so even if you don’t want to order individuals, please attend so your dancer can be acknowledged with her group! Team photos may also be used for future promotions so it would be wonderful to have everyone! You will also notice there is a tab on this spreadsheet for our Competitive Team Showcase order. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL GROUP TEAM PHOTOS WILL TAKE PLACE DURING THE AFTERNOON AT APA ON 6/11. We will try to get another version of the group photo for Teams with dancers in South Milwaukee schools that cannot come during the day (we can just do our best working around ballet routines on stage and gathering dancers together who have changed back into these costumes).
Last Chance to Register for Fundraising the week of dress rehearsals:
Would you like to earn credit for the 2019-2020 Competitive Team fees? Below are 3 optional opportunities to fundraise. Click on the link next to each one to sign up. First come, first serve. You may sign up for just 1, 2 or all 3. Profits for each group will be divided up equally between each individual group. Ex: Only Silent Auctions donation collectors will receive those proceeds.
- Bake Sale during the dress rehearsals. You must bake items AND volunteer at least 1 shift to sell items. This will take place Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
- Tuesday evening meal sales during dress rehearsals and before Competitive Showcase (to feed those kids who are there). You would need to purchase items AND staff the sales as well. We recommend something simple such as subs, chips and water. Water can be brought into the PAC, but no soda or juice.
- Silent Auction basket donations. Donate a minimum of a $40 basket to be bid on before and during the Competitive Showcase on Tuesday night.
2019-2020 Audition Results: All results will be individually emailed by Sunday, June 16th at 11pm. Our coaching staff has put a great deal of time and effort in to composing our Teams for the upcoming season. We appreciate everyone who came out to auditions in May! All Competitive Team decisions are final.
Registration for Summer Intensives and Fall Classes: In your audition results email, there will be a link to sign up for your registration appointment with Miss Sarah and Miss Trisha. Our Team Commitment Contract has a few minor changes, so please make sure to read that as well (link will be provided in the results email).
2019-2020 Nationals Details: We will be rehearsing the week after the Showcases for Nationals. Each Team has 30 minutes, except Production which will be one hour. Please see below for your Team(s) rehearsal dates and times. All rehearsals are mandatory for Nationals and will be in Oak Creek.

Come join this FREE event! This is for current students performing in our Spring Dance Showcase who want to dance with their Dad (or another guy in their life) for an additional performance during their Showcase time. Only one practice would be needed to learn the routine or if you can’t make it, we will have a video link for you to learn at home starting in June – but we recommend coming if possible so you feel comfortable about where to stand on stage. Students will wear their costume on stage for the performance. Dads, please wear khaki pants or jeans and button up shirt for the performance. Both locations may attend either practice.

Technique Class Evaluations: The video on how to log in and see your dancer’s evaluations will be posted on Facebook (and a link emailed out with your account info if you were new to Teams this year) during the first week of June. Our evaluations are no longer done on paper, they are through a website that will generate a report of all your child’s classes and track their progress. The video will explain how to use the site. Login info is the same for each parent year to year.
Fall Dance Assistant Applications: Please do not fill out the Fall Assistant Application until you know your dancer’s dance schedule. If your child is going to be 10 years old by September 1st and is interested in assisting dance classes this Summer and/or next school year, please click below to complete an Assistant Application. All Fall applications are due no later than July 25th. Please complete this after you register for the 2019/2020 season. Fall classes: for every 2 hours of class they assist per week, they receive a monthly $41 tuition credit. Keep in mind the more flexibility and availability you have, the easier it is to schedule. Please make sure to review each application as there have been changes including tuition credit method, subs, and more.

4th of July Parade Information: (team students do not have to sign-up for parades)
Reminder: All Parades are mandatory performances for Competitive Team dancers. Mini dancers are the only dancers excused but are still welcome to participate if they’d like and can learn the dance. If you will be out of town for the 4th of July Parade, please email [email protected] no later than June 10th. At the Parade, you will need to check in with a staff member or a designated parent for attendance purposes. We will be in the Oak Creek and Franklin Parades and will have all students under the age of 7 sit on our float/truck. Students ages 8 and up will be dancing in both parades. We will provide a practice video via email of the parade dance & will also have optional practice times for students to come and learn the dance. Don’t worry; this will be an easy dance! Both locations will be doing the same dance so you can attend either location if the practice times work better.
We WILL be busing students from the Oak Creek parade to the Franklin parade – details on drop-off/pick-up times and locations will be emailed as the date gets closer.
Oak Creek practice – Monday, July 1st from 530p-630p
Franklin practice – Tuesday, July 2nd from 530p-630p
Heritage Days Parade - Join us on Saturday, July 27th at 11am for the Heritage Days Parade in South Milwaukee. This is a mandatory performance for ALL Team dancers. Mini dancers are the only dancers not required to attend Parades but are welcome to participate if they’d like and can learn the dance.
Meeting location and times will be emailed out one week prior. Parade details for each city can also be found on each city’s website.
Parade attire: Students under the age of 7 can wear their Showcase costume and tennis shoes, or they can wear their APA t-shirt (given out at rehearsals) with shorts and tennis shoes. For students ages 7 and older that will be dancing/walking, please wear your APA t-shirt with BLACK shorts and tennis shoes. Use your best judgment to make sure your child is comfortable during the Parade. Please make sure dancers are drinking plenty of water the day before and morning of Parades – they can get dehydrated easily and won’t feel the effects until it’s too late. Also, wear sunscreen!
License Plate Winner: Congrats to license plate 292-NKE. One of our staff members spotted your APA window sticker while driving! Please contact the front desk so we know who you are and you will receive a $50 tuition credit. To participate, grab a FREE window sticker at the desk!
Win Tuition Credit! Grab a yard sign from either of our locations and display it proudly in your yard! If a staff member of APA spots your house you could win a $50 tuition credit! This contest is running all summer long (one winner per month) and all winners will be announced strictly on Facebook and Instagram. Join in on the fun and you could be our next winner!
