Team Newsletter – May 2019

[vc_row enable_arrows_animation=”no”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Happy May everyone! We are getting so close to our end-of-the-year performances. It seems like just yesterday we were sizing for dance shoes and costumes. As we come to an end we are already planning for next year. Every year, we send out a survey after all of our performances are over. This is such a great way for you to leave us feedback. We would love to hear everything…. what went well, where to consider changes, etc. It is great to hear things you love, so we know to keep doing them, and it is crucial we hear about things you wish we would change. We personally read every single survey and share them with the staff.  It is such a great way to make APA better every year. We appreciate you taking the time to fill this out for us.

Another one of our favorite things going on is our Dad/Dancer Production that we perform at our Spring Showcase!  This is a free event and we hope to get as many Dads as possible involved!  (If Dad isn’t available, feel free to invite your Uncle, Grandpa, etc.)  We will have free classes at APA for you to bring Dad and learn the dance OR we will send out the video link in the June Newsletter for you to learn on your own. Practice dates are listed at the bottom of the Newsletter under our Spring Dance Showcase information.

We know that many questions pop up at this time of year, so please do not hesitate to call, email, or stop in!  We are here to help and want to make sure you know what is coming up!

Student of the Month – Congratulations Hailey Barth, our Competitive Team Dancer of the Month. Hailey is in 8th grade at Walden III Middle School where her favorite subject is Math. She would like to enter the medical field when she grows up. Hailey’s parents are her heroes. Hailey enjoys using the app Snapchat and her favorite color is white. Her favorite food are Buffalo Wild Wings and her favorite dessert is Cheesecake. Hailey has been dancing at APA for 10 years and this is her 3rd year on Teams. Her favorite style of dance is Poms. Her favorite memory is competing and feeling that she did really well. Dance has taught her to “Never Give Up”. Hailey was nominated by all of her competitive coaches. They love her positivity! “She always has a smile on her face, even on difficult days when rehearsals can be long, and never brings outside negativity into the classroom. Hailey puts forth the effort and energy to continue to grow as a dancer and a person. She always comes back knowing her choreography.  She is a supportive teammate and a great role model. She also tells some great jokes!” Congratulations, Hailey!

2019-2020 School Year Team Information  For 2019-2020 Team Scheduling click HERE.  Please remember Nationals will be out-of-state next season and are mandatory. Please see the email sent out in April for details. We are trying to provide as many details as possible so you can make informed choices, but please remember you will not have exact weekly schedules until after audition results are posted, and we won’t have competition dates until they are announced by each company and we select those that work for us. Plan to make your registration appointments the second to last week of June (the week before Nationals). This is where you will sit with Miss Sarah to determine what Teams you will be accepting and exactly what your schedule for Summer and Fall will look like – more information about signing up for these appointments will be sent out end of May/early June.

End-of-the-Year Banquet –  PLEASE remember this is a different date than years past. Thursday, May 30th, 5pm – 8pm at the Oak Creek Community Center. This is a semi-formal event where the dancers are encouraged to dress up. Please email Trisha at [email protected] if your dancer is unable to attend.  Sorry, no parents, but don’t worry, Miss Trisha takes lots of pictures!

Competitive Team ShowcaseTuesday, June 11th @ SMPAC – doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7pm. NEW this year – our Competitive Teams will not rehearse Team numbers during the week. Instead they’ll perform on stage Tuesday night to try another approach to the annual Competitive Team Performance, BUT they will dance in the various weekend Showcases as well. Tickets will go on sale through the SMPAC in May along with our other Showcase tickets (ticket sale details for APA’s yearly Showcases are at the bottom of the Newsletter).

Team Picture Details –  Like last year, we are doing Team photos during the afternoon on Tuesday, June 11th. This is also the day most of the Teams will have their dress rehearsal time at the SMPAC. This works out great because it allows dancers more time to be recharged and ready for their next dance during rehearsal blocks, and also ensures their individual and group photos feature their happy faces instead of flushed faces with fading hair and makeup as the night goes on. The time table is linked HERE and is approximate. These will be the official Team photos so even if you don’t want to order individuals, please attend so your dancer can be acknowledged with her group! Team photos may also be used for future promotions so it would be wonderful to have everyone!  You will also notice there is a tab on this spreadsheet for our Competitive Team Showcase order.

2019 Nationals Information –  Reminder: Payments for National fees are due Thursday, May 9th. The cost is $52 per Team routine. Please pay via check or cash by May 8th if you do not want to use your account on file. If you choose to pay via credit card or your account on file there is an additional 3% processing fee.

Solos and Duets, it is optional if you choose to attend.  If you have not yet emailed Miss Trisha at [email protected] that your soloist would like to compete at Nationals, please do so immediately.

The cost for a solo is $130 each and the Duets are $77.50 per person.

Dates: June 23rd – June 28th

Location: Wilderness Resort, Wisconsin Dells

We are very excited to see all of our Teams at the Legacy Nationals in the Wisconsin Dells. It’s a high- energy experience and packed with amazing dances! Nationals is divided into levels just as Regionals, so your dancer will compete under the same categories they did at this past Legacy competition.

We have had many parents who completed the google form for the Team Parent Directory. If you would like to arrange car pooling or other arrangements please click here for the Team Parent Directory.

National RehearsalsWe will be rehearsing the week after the showcases for Nationals. Each team has 30 minutes. Please see below for your team(s) rehearsal dates and times.  All rehearsals are mandatory for Nationals and will be in Oak Creek.
